The Tibetan doctor gives advice for diet and conduct and if necessary gives Tibetan herbal pills, and sometimes additional therapies are advised such as massage, acupressure with herbs, and meditation.

For the urine- and pulse diagnosis one should not take vitimins B or C, nor use food that can colour the urine such as beetroots and cherries, for three or four days beforehand. The evening before the consultation no alcohol or alcohol-free beer should be consumed and in the morning no coffee should be drunk.
